At the IMTAL board meeting, members welcomed our new membership officer, Heather Barnes, to the team.  A special thank you to former membership officer Elizabeth Pickard and past president George Buss for their dedication to IMTAL. 

IMTAL Luncheon

Joe Imholte, Director of Special Exhibits, accepted the 2010 IMTY award on behalf of the Senior Leadership of the Science Museum of Minnesota. Publications officer Macros Stafne led a discussion on the future of museum theatre.

EdCom Marketplace of Ideas

There was a lot of interest in the IMTAL booth where we promoted museum theatre.  IMTAL President Simone Mortan decorated the booth to represent the variety of work IMTAL supports. A special thank you to EdCom for hosting.

Member Sessions


Stephanie Long of the Science Museum of Minnesota chaired a session titled "Creating Innovative Programming Around Global Issues.”  The panel consisted of fantastic presenters: Agnes Wilcox, Elizabeth Pickard and Rae Ostman.  Former IMTAL President George Buss presented his popular public speaking workshops to eager participants.

Museum Theatre Showcase

The Museum Theatre Showcase highlighted a collection of stellar performances.  The scene stealing T Rex was HUGE a hit!  This was one of the best AAM showcases in recent years. Thank you to the following IMTAL members for participating in the Showcase: The Lawrence Hall of Science, Science Museum of Minnesota, Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, Children's Museum of Indianapolis, Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Aspen Historical Society

AAM 2011: Houston, TX

IMTAL is now accepting suggestions and volunteer panelists for proposals for the 2011 AAM Annual Meeting which will be held in Houston May 22-25, 2011. Anyone wishing to submit a proposal as part of IMTAL please contact Vice President Jillian Finkle.
